BOB and Zippy

Here’s BOB (right).  He collects balls with his massive door, and holds them in a bin until they are ready to be launched into the goal with his catapult.

And, here’s Zippy (below).  He vacuums balls up off the floor with his zip-tie brush and moves them up a conveyor belt to a “gun” which shoots them into the goal.

Scrimmage

The Mandalorians are working diligently on their collection mechanism.

Here are a few photos from the scrimmage that we hosted last Saturday in the Cardinal Cove.

It was a pretty good turn out with a total of five teams working.  Both of our teams made some progress, and got a taste for what the competition will be like.

The Techno Guards, the Galt team and the Folsom team joined us for the day.

Looking Ahead

After a successful first year, we are looking forward to the 2009 Robotics season!  Next year, WCS Robotics will be expanding to include a middle school FLL team!  A big THANK YOU! to the new coach!

Championship Tournament

We competed in the Northern California Championship Tournament in Mountain View, California.  We were ranked 6 out of 21 teams in the qualifying rounds.  It was a great experience, and we got a lot of ideas for next year!

Scrimmage

We hosted a scrimmage in the Cardinal Cove on Feb 21.  Two other teams came, as well as Mark from Playing At Learning.  The guys learned a lot, and got a few ideas for their robot.
